A Birthday Card: CPS 252

**If you're my cousin and your birthday is this Saturday, please read no further***

My card stash is incredibly low. I really need to beef it up. I needed a Birthday card today so I made one using this week's CPS sketch (my go-to!) I really didn't go assembly-line style (I should have), I just made two cards using the same sketch.

I had such a crafty day the other day. First on the agenda was making some Thank You cards for Christmas. As usual, I reach for the CPS Sketch of the week. And here it is:


And I just turn it into an assembly line, naturally.

I used Cosmo Cricket's "Oh Joy" for all of these on PTI Craft Cardstock.

I went on to finish a scrapbook page, I knitted some of my socks for the sock challenge, I knitted a little of a new sweater I've started (Shalom), and I made a fantastic tofu dinner which will be posted for Meatless Monday soon. I foolishly though that the snow day we had today would lead to some down time spent knitting and watching movies, but no. I had to shovel because my husband is away and then we plaaaayyyyeeedd.......which was awesome!!


So, me and my TIRED body will sit down later to knit.

A Few Cards!

On Sunday I was able to get some card making done with Steph! I always turn to CPS for some direction and sketch inspiration. Here is the sketch for this week:

The stamp set is called Everyday Button Bits from Paper Trey Ink. I don't have a whole lot of stamp sets, but I am sooooo glad this is one of them! It fits so many needs and it's just ding dang cute!

It felt so good to sit down at my scrapbooking table and make a card yesterday! It's been so long! I had an hour until the girls got home from school, so I just clicked over to CPS to see this week's challenge and this is what I made:

A Card?!

I've been soooo neglecting my paper crafting! I'm very behind in scrapbooking, which includes MAJOR events that need to be scrapped.....like learning to ride bikes without training wheels, field day, pre-school graduation, and our trip to Disney! Yikes....I need another weekend devoted to scrapping....and quick!

It's my niece's birthday party this weekend, so I took the opportunity to make some girly cards based upon this week's CPS challenge. Here's the sketch:

Ever since she could talk, she'd say "Happy Day" instead of "Happy Birthday"...although when I wished her a "Happy Day" on her actual birthday, she corrected me by saying, "Happy BIRTHday, Aunt Beff." Kids!

A CPS Card! And Another Activity Book

Can you believe it's been so long since I've made a card? I've been so wrapped up in gardening and knitting and sewing, that I've neglected my paper crafting. I apologize to those of you who follow this blog based upon paper crafting. I haven't lost any followers, so I assume you're liking something you see here! I always feel guilty, though, for starting this blog for paper crafting and now straying so far from it.

We had a little boy's birthday party to attend this weekend. I've vowed to make activity books such as this, for all upcoming birthdays because they're so cool. But, I made a card to go with it this time. Here's the CPS Sketch #165:

It was very quick and easy. I was in a rush, but what a perfect sketch to put together quickly and easily if needed :-) Paper is Cogsmo from Cosmo Cricket. It matches most of the activity book I put together for the birthday boy.

Are We There Yet?

I'm on it, dog'on'it! I worked on this week's CPS Challenge on this rainy day. I was in desperate need of a masculine "get well" card for a dear friend who, although only in his thirties, had to undergo full knee replacement surgery. Yikes! Poor guy! So, this week's sketch, coupled with the adorable Mr. Campy stamp set from Cosmo Cricket (thanks Steph...you da best!), made for the PERFECT card for our friend in Deutschland (keep it a surprise, Kati :-).

This may be my favorite card to date! I Love, Love, Love the sketch first of all. I love all the layers of paper. I Adore, Adore, Adore this paper from Cosmo Cricket. And I'm Proud, Proud, Proud that I had the vision to create the hill by ripping paper and chalking the edges (click image to enlarge for detail). The other day Elise created chimney smoke from using vellum! I shook my head in admiration of her creativity and vision. Now, I'm no Mamacow, but I love my hill! Thanks for the inspiration, Elise! You're outta this world!

So, it may be an uphill climb right now for our friend's recovery, but hopefully he'll be on the downhill slide real soon! He needs to be ready for some bike rides when we visit Germany :-)

Got Snow?

Here's my new little Snowman Stamp (A Muse) applied to this week's CPS Challenge.


We don't have snow :-( But we have the c-c-cold weather. I'm anxious to get some snow fun in with my girls this winter. Might have to hit Massachusetts again to hot the BIG hills!

Thinking of You

On Monday one of my girls proclaimed, "Mommy, I want to scrapbook all day long"! Be still my heart, child! You got it! We set to work, although "all day long" equates to about two hours in a four year old's life. And I loved those two hours although I didn't get an ounce of my own craftiness in. This is what she created based upon my holiday hugs card from a few days ago:

So, yesterday I made some time for my own craftiness and set to work on the CPS sketch for the week. I made it fit with the SPCC color combo, too.

Have you ever made a card and just could.not.stand.it? Well, I have no earthly idea where my creativity was/is, but here's what I originally came up with:

Oh my gosh! Dreadfully boring! Unless you're into straight lines, no visual interest, and very strict adherence to the sketch. I could not sleep last night just thinking about how dreadful it was!

So, this morning I tore it all up and added some stuff. Yes, I tore it all up, instead of starting fresh, because I'm cheap environmentally conscious like that. I scalloped the border of the lavender paper, added a layer of the patterned paper which has really cool velvet red circles (so texture) and green to match the chair, and added a scalloped piece of lavender paper on top of the red plain circle (which is opposite of what we generally do, but it looks cool, I think.) I like it better now. Now it's more worthy of entering these challenges.

Coming at you with a card that fits two challenges!
2 Red Bananas is calling for a card using Red, orange, yellow, and brown (at least three). And here's the sketch for CPS:


Oh this was so fun to make! Not being one to generally send a Thanksgiving card, I was stumped for a minute with the color scheme. But, I just had a Birthday! I received awesome gifts! Um, helllooooo, let me make a fall-ish thank you card!

~The felt is from Close to my Heart, leftovers from a class I took at my scrap weekend!
~The patterned paper is from Creative memories, leftovers from a class from LAST year's scrap weekend!
~The stamp set is also from CTMH. It's called Hodgepodge and it ROCKS! Plenty of letters of all different shapes, sizes, caps, lowercase....awesome!

CPS #137 Ooooooh, Witchy Woman

Friday night our local stamp shop, One Little Spark, held a "Howl at the moon" stamping event. There were classes to attend and free make 'n takes. Steph and I dropped in for some action and here's what we came out with:

Spoooooky, another two-for!

Hi friends, I'm coming at you today with another two-for! This SPOOKY little number will be submitted to the CPS Challenge and 2 Red Bananas.

The challenge for 2 Red Bananas was to create a Halloween project......voila!

The bat punch is from EK Sucess. I plan on using it for goody bags for my girls' Halloween party at pre-school.

As an aside, a story about one of my kids: Yesterday Paige woke up and immediately had a request for me. "Mommy, I need you to knit me a net. I need a net for my contraption that I'm making to catch a mouse. I'm also gonna need wood and twigs. Mom, will you help me hunt for twigs?"

Mercy! Can I just sit in awe of the fact that my child has confidence enough in my knitting skills to request a net? That she knows such a thing would be perfect knitted? That she knows and can use the word contraption? That she wants to hunt for twigs with me? I'm blown away. Every day.

CPS #135 Comfy Cozy

It's been a couple of weeks since I participated in a CPS Challenge. I wasn't in a very creative or productive mood for a while, but I'm good now :-) This week's challenge is nice and is perfect for the Karen Lockhart stamp I was waiting to use.


I stamped the robe on patterned paper and colored in the belt with Copics (chartreuse to be exact). I really thought the turned collar and sleeves could have used some fluffy flocking. I was tempted to run right out and get some, but really I'd rather spend my time actually crafting than running around buying stuff for said crafting. I take pride in working the best that I can with what I've got. Plus, I always have my girl Ani Difranco singing in my ear......

to rob you of your grace"

So, there you have it. A little robe, minus flocking, but still cute and comfy.
