Tackle it Tuesday

My friend Bonnie has the coolest blog which dedicates several days a week to certain themes. I love the Wordless Wednesdays and also the Tackle it Tuesdays. So, today I'm going to post my first Tackle. My apologies, I didn't realize that each tackle had a recommended purpose (such as "make a welcome area" for today), so mine is not related this week's theme. I'm going to post it anyway, because it was a BIG tackle that my husband and I did last Tuesday. Actually, we can call it a "welcome area for my veggies".

My yard has a bunch of random little areas for flower beds carved out by these bricks. the trouble is, they weren't placed in the most strategic places in terms of sun exposure, so things don't grow very well in them. Plus, they're an eyesore. Plus, I want nice straight lines in my yard.....with nice grass that can be cut all the way to the fence line. So, I took out this flower bed....

....and smoothed it all out. We'll lay sod soon, I think.

But, that's not all we did! My husband built my contained vegetable garden. The plot before:

And my garden spot after:
Look at all that beautiful compost!

I hope to fit many more veggies this year. I've got seedlings started for three types of tomatoes, cucumbers, snow peas, broccoli, two types of lettuce, carrots, and corn. This space may not hold it all, but I'll resort to my veggie garden spot from last year for the over flow. Welcome, Spring! Welcome, Veggies!
