Easter treats for the kids

I don't know for how many years my Grandmother ensured all the grandkids had personalized Easter treats, usually in the form of an egg-shaped cake, but in my mind it was EVERY year. Mimi is gone, and since I'm "mini-Mimi", I try to get all the kids some sort of treat for Easter now. I had a bakery that was OK in terms of cake quality, but now they're not so good. So, this year I decided to make my own little treats for the kids.

I found a template for these little boxes on Paper Trey Ink. They are really supposed to be a little oven, but I left the door off, so it just looks like a perfect little box for a perfect little nest with eggs. They're not quite big enough for a full sized cupcake, so I decided to make little nests out of rice krispy treats. It worked perfectly.

Above you can see the boys' nests. My girls helped me stamp the names, they were glad to contribute to the project.

And here are some birds nest treats I made for the adults.

I'm really itching for spring, as I'm sure most of us are. Perhaps I was a little hasty, but I got somee of my veggies into the ground this afternoon; lettuce, broccoli, and snow peas. Hang in there little fella's....it'll warm up soon!
