I did a little sewing this week. I also worked on my NY cardigan, but I'll show you that progress next week. For now, check out these cuties:
I'd really like to display them in an old fashioned wire egg basket. I thought Target would have a knock off, but no. So, for now they're nestled in this easter basket and I'll be hunting antique stores for a vintage-y basket for my little eggies.

A Trash to Treasure Project
Me and the girls stopped at a yard sale last week. I came across these butterflies and knew they'd be perfect for hanging in their rooms after a little cleaning up and spray paint. I was really hoping they were metal, but they're plastic. Oh well, lighter that way. For 50 cents, what do you want?
They were all off white ( I think stained from nicotine).
You could see a little rust looking stain on some of them. But I knocked that out with a couple coats of primer and then some COLOR!!
And now they're happily taking flight in each of the girls rooms.....so pretty!

Fibers on Friday: It's a Blue Bird Day
That's what my Dad always says when it's a nice day, "It's a blue bird day". We have had so many blue bird days here so far. I'm really enjoying this early spring in Florida. We have a ton...a ton!...of very vocal birds in our back yard and it sounds so pretty all the time. In fact, last week Madison was chirping back and forth with one of them and Paige enthusiastically said, "Madison! I can't believe how that bird is responding to you!" So sweet. And it brings to mind a line from a song from the Avett Brothers (who we went to see last week....awesome!)
"She knows which birds are singing.....and the names of the trees where they're performing.....in the morning...."
So, how perfect that I will be able to share this crocheted blue bird hat with you this week! It is special BEYOND special because it's a gift for my cousin Amy who is expecting a little baby blue bird of her own in a month. You may recall her button on my blog to support her pursuit of adoption? Well, nature took her course, and Amy and her husband are having a baby!
"Nature always gets her way....nature always gets her way......" ~Ani DiFranco
Can I quote any more songs this post? probably....it's a malady of mine, actually.

Fibers on Friday: A Pattern Emerges
And helllloooo!! I did a little bit of exciting work on my NY Cardigan this week. I love to see the pattern emerge on the lace work.
When I did the first row of the lacework, I messed up, so I had to rip a whole row out.
It was quite harrowing, because there were yarn over stitches to work around, there were two stitches knit together to work through, and there were passed over stitches. UGH.....but I think I got it all worked out and with no noticeable problems.
I would have gotten more finished, because I did have quite a bit of crafting time this week. But, me and the girls spent some scrapbooking time one day (which means I barely got one lay out done while they each completed 3 pages ) and my other fiber time was dedicated to a gift....which I can't blog about.....yet :-0
We're off to our first camping trip of the season this weekend. Not only the first camping trip of the season, but our first camping season down South. Let's see how they roll down here! We're going to a concert in Alabama...we're seeing the Avett Brothers and the girls are coming with us!!! Wooohooo......as a family, we LOVE this band. This will be the girls' third concert at such a young age, and everyone they've seen has been super cool; Keller Williams, Ani DiFranco, and now Avett Brothers. Can't wait!!

Rainbow Cupcakes
Just in time for St. Patty's Day!!
Simply make a white cake from a box or from scratch.
Divide the batter into 6 smaller bowls and add food coloring. Now, if you want colors as vibrant as these, I recommend you use the Wilton Food coloring gel which you can find in craft stores. The colors are phenomenal and stunning!
Spoon a little bit of each color into your cupcake liners....and bake.
Then....to borrow the phrase from Skittles....."taste the rainbow...."

Fibers on Friday: Sweater Progress
Here we go! I have some progress to share on my NY cardigan! As you can see, the sleeves have been put on scrap yarn, I've knit 8 inches of the body, and now I need to step down to smaller needles and I think the pattern work begins.
I'm still really loving this pattern. I can't wait to start the design work...maybe tonight :-)

A Few Cards
I took a couple hours this weekend to make some cards. There are babies being born, thank yous that need to be made, dear friends moving away, and little girls' birthday parties for the next few weekends.
When I'm in a card making mood, I always hop over to Mama Cow Creations to see what Elise can inspire....and it's always huge....HUGE...I say it. She's highlighting the week's JUGS sketch, and I jumped on board.
I'm happy to have a little stash going again!
Supplies:
cardstock from PTI
Elephant stamp from Fiskars colored with Copics
Bicycle stamp from PTI

Fibers on Friday: Link Up, Buttercups!
Happy Friday. I, for one, am thrilled it's Friday. I've had a very hectic week, I'm up to my ears in Girl Scout Cookies, and I'm looking forward to lunch with my main man in a little bit.
Not much progress has been made on my sweater, so let me leave the showing off to you guys!!
